Candidate Ken Rhoden Walks the July 4th Parade

Ken Rhoden walked the 3 mile parade route along with 10 of his supporters.  The group accompanied a local car club entry which was decked out in red, white & blue banners.  Walkers handed out candy and information about the candidate to the dedicated parade watchers along the route which started in downtown Melbourne and ended at the Liberty Bell Museum.

Following the parade Ken and his supporters participated in the special presentation at the museum including a patriotic sing-a-long and refreshments.

Cocoa Village Memorial Day

Ken Rhoden’s first public appearance since announcing his candidacy for the Office of Public Defender in May 2011 was at the Cocoa Memorial Day Celebration at Riverfront Park.  There were several dignitaries in attendance including Senator Mike Haridopolis, Cocoa Mayor Michael C. Blake, BCC’s Associate Provost LeRoy Darby sang the National Anthem, and the guest speaker was Cpl. Robert Smith, USMC, a Cocoa High graduate.

Become a Campaign Volunteer

Petitions

There are two ways to get on the ballot in Florida:  1)  get ballot petitions signed by registered voters in your district, or 2) pay a large fee to the government.   For this race Ken needs 6,240 ballot petitions signed or he must pay the government over $9,000 to get onto the ballot.

If you would like to help – any voter registered in Brevard or Seminole county can fill out a petition.  Download the petition form and fill one out, have your friends and family fill one out and send them directly to the campaign at:

PLEASE be very careful to fill out all the blanks, sign, and date the form.  The government is very particular and will reject any petition that is not properly completed.  Each petition takes about a minute to complete.  Thank you!

Local Businessman Ken Rhoden Declares Candidacy for Office of Public Defender

Brevard & Seminole Counties, Florida [June 2, 2011] Businessman and attorney Kenneth “Ken” Rhoden has declared his candidacy for the Office of Public Defender, 18th Judicial Circuit, Florida.

“I am proud to have the opportunity to serve my community in a role such as Public Defender,” says Ken Rhoden. “For the first time in 30 years voters can change the leadership of the Public Defender’s office.”

“It is time for a change and I am the most qualified person for the position.”

Rhoden’s work experience includes 12 years working in the Public Defender’s office, 13 years as a private businessman and attorney, and 10 years in the construction trades.

The candidate stated that the Public Defender’s office needs to be substantially reformed to cut operational costs to taxpayers and improve efficiency. Rhoden wants voters to know he is the strong, energetic leader needed to make these fiscally conservative changes to the Public Defender’s office.

“The reforms I want to implement are substantial however, they will be put in place in a gradual, methodical manner,” Rhoden explains. “70% of all criminal cases are handled by the Public Defender’s office.  That number can and should be greatly reduced to save taxpayer money and support the private businesses that could serve those defendants.”

Ken Rhoden has listed his personal cell phone for any voter in Brevard or Seminole county to call him. He would like to hear from voters and welcomes any questions, comments, or ideas.

“It is never too early to start learning about your candidates,” states Rhoden.  “And using that knowledge to vote is the most important way for citizens to be heard.”
