Always Remember and Honor, says Rhoden, Brevard County Public Defender Candidate 2012

“Thank you to all the military personnel past, presently active, and those that are enlisting.  Your service to our country is honorable and appreciated.  God bless you as you look back and remember, as you walk in your service, and as you anticipate serving in the future. ” Ken Rhoden, May 28, 2012

This morning Ken posted the below comment on Facebook and wanted to share it with you, here on the website as well:

“I cannot say it better than President Lincoln”,
“…that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion…
We honor the dead by preserving the freedom they died to give us.”

Wikipedia does a good job summarizing this special holiday:  “Memorial Day is a federal holiday observed annually in the United States on the last Monday of May.[1] Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.[2] Formerly known as Decoration Day, it originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the Union soldiers who died in the Civil War. By the 20th century Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who have died in all wars. It typically marks the start of the summer vacation season, while Labor Day marks its end.”
