“2012 Oktoberfest was a big hit this year” says Ken Rhoden, “We had a great crowd inside enjoying the food and even more outside listening to the live music, riding the train, and climbing all over the blow up play
ground!” The Men’s Group of Advent Lutheran Church hosts the Oktoberfest every year (for as long as I can remember!) and the proceeds go to support the outreach programs sponsored by the church. The men do almost all the cooking with the menu usually consisting of bratwurst, red cabbage, sauerkraut, and homemade German potato salad.
There are games and rides outside for the kids and many of the neighborhood families come to enjoy this event. It is open to the public every year.
Next big event for Advent: The Annual White Elephant sale to benefit Habitat for Humanity. That takes place in the fall (November 3 this year) and has been a regular stop for the serious bargain hunters for 20 years or more.
